It is clear they have <strong>a serious financial crisis on their hands<\/strong>\u2014only four months into Brita\u2019s tenure as Chair.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The party is OUT OF MONEY already!<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current cash on hand:\u00a0<strong>$84,531<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Debt owed to the Chair\u2019s long-time, personal attorney\u00a0<em>(Klenda)<\/em>:\u00a0<strong>$104,813<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Net negative balance:\u00a0<strong>-$20,282<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deficit spending<\/strong>\u00a0is not uncommon for Brita.\u00a0 She reportedly did the same when she was treasurer in Routt County.<\/p>\n<p>A few concerns to highlight after review of the FEC filing:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Receipts:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The reported receipts include three one-time, maximum donations of $10,000 each, totaling $30,000.<\/li>\n<li>With these three individuals\u2019 max donations, total fundraising under Brita\u2019s leadership for April\u2013June was $75,950 (averaging $25,316 per month).<\/li>\n<li>Excluding these one-time donations, the recurring monthly fundraising drops significantly to $45,950 for the time period\u2014about $15,316 per month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Given these numbers, it is unclear how the Chair intends to sustain the $2.4 million budget that she presented and ultimately had approved in June\u2014especially given\u00a0<em>that it initially failed to pass<\/em>\u00a0and only succeeded after a member was persuaded to change their vote to support it during what was considered by many to be an illegal\u00a0<em>re-vote<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Legal Fees:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Chair\u2019s personal (now State GOP) lawyer\u00a0<em>(Klenda)<\/em>was paid $10,000 during this period, but there remains an outstanding balance of $104,813\u2014bringing the\u00a0<u>total legal fees billed for just three months to $114,813<\/u>\u00a0(<em>averaging $38,271 per month<\/em>).<\/li>\n<li>This amount appears excessive. The\u00a0SEC and SCC should request an itemized, hourly breakdown of these charges. What exactly is the State GOP paying Brita\u2019s lawyer to do?
